Downtime…..that dirty word that anyone who works in manufacturing tries to avoid with a vengeance.
How does your company try to prevent downtime?
These days, stocking an abundance of parts may throw you over your monthly budget.
So, what are you to do?
You can’t afford to have downtime either. Downtime can cost thousands of dollars per hour.
Talk to your vendors about stocking parts for you. Use blanket orders with releases (monthly, quarterly, etc.) and with higher over all quantities to receive quantity discounts.
A good vendor will have all the statistics for parts in their software which have been calculated based on customer demands.
Giving your vendors a yearly usage on a part can help the vendor manufacture ahead of time and prepare to have the parts on the shelf for you – ready to go at a moment’s notice.
We do this with our customers. We manufacture parts according to our customers’ needs. We stock for specific customers based on their usage. They can call us and depend on us for shipping parts the same day.
By using this method, you can stock less of these parts in your stockroom, lowering your inventory costs.
Example, maybe you keep one of a part on the shelf instead of three.
When the one part in stock is pulled, you call the vendor.
If your vendor is stocking for you, you can have within a day.
We stock many parts, especially for Nordson melters.
We also manufacture the K-Series Melter and stock all the parts for the K-Series. Most of the K-Series parts are the same parts that fit the Nordson melters, which makes it simple for you to stock less.
We all have to be creative these days to save money where we can. Not only, can you save money with our reasonable prices, but also, save by having us stock parts for you.
